2020 has been a great year for Korean entertainment! The industry did not stop producing great K-drama for the audience despite the pandemic. Many K-dramas came out this year, but we have compiled the top five K-dramas to watch before the year ends.

Crash Landing on You

First on the list is Crash Landing on You. The series premiered in December 2019, but most of the episodes were aired at the beginning of 2020. The drama is about a North Korean officer (Hyun Bin) and a South Korean heiress (Son Ye-Jin) who falls in love despite their background differences. However, they face difficulties throughout the drama because they can’t spend the rest of their lives together. The drama also takes an interesting approach to introduce North Korean culture.

It’s Okay Not to Be Okay

It’s Okay to Not Be Okay is one of the most entertaining dramas of 2020. Starring Kim Soo-hyun, who plays Moon Gang-tae, and Seo Ye-ji who plays Ko Moon-young, the drama centers around the struggle of mental illness and healing. The drama is a real tear-jerker. 

Sweet Home

From the popular LINE webtoon comes the thrilling series, Sweet Home! The new series was released on Netflix on December 18, 2020. It is about Cha Hyun-soo, who moves into a new apartment, and strange things start to occur. Hyun-soo and other residents try their best to figure out how to survive the monsters.

Itaewon Class

Itaewon Class is one of the iconic K-dramas that came out in 2020. The drama is about an ex-con, Park Sae-Ro-Yi, who starts his own street bar business with the help of his friends. However, he faces the struggle of trying to succeed because of Jang Dae-hee who tries to sabotage his business. One of the main reason why Itaewon Class became a hit sensation because it tackles the themes of poverty, classism, racial discrimination and transphobia. The series also has a diverse cast!

Hospital Playlist

If you are a fan of medical drama, then Hospital Playlist is the perfect K-drama for you. The series tells the story of doctors and nurses working at Yulje Medical Center. Starring Jo Jung-suk, Yoo Yeon-Seok, Jung Kyung-ho, Kim Dae-Myung, and Jeon Mi-do, the drams focus on five doctors who have been friends their medical school days.
